What is the Data Week Leipzig and How Has it Evolved since 2022?

Content

Since 2022, Data Week Leipzig has been inviting academic, business and administrative stakeholders to an international data festival to discuss topics relating to data, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, as well as the associated challenges of modern urban development. The week-long programme offers a wide range of sessions, workshops and lectures, bringing together participants from different countries across Europe and the world to network and exchange ideas.
In recent years, the CUT Academy has played a key role in shaping the programme items and sessions. This article therefore provides an insight into the objectives, development and individual programme highlights of recent years.

The Key Learnings

A hub for networking

Data Week provides a platform for representatives from government bodies, industry, academia and the business sector to network effectively and engage in dialogue.

Increased visibility and reach

By hosting the Data Week, Leipzig is establishing itself as a centre of excellence for data, AI and digitalisation in an urban context.

Opportunities for knowledge transfer and planning for future issues

With its wide range of topics and its programme of workshops and talks, Data Week offers a format that builds practical skills, promotes best practices and translates knowledge from research and industry into usable skills and projects.

A platform for support and promotion of young talent

Data Week offers students, trainees and interested members of the public a platform to showcase their interests – for example, through hackathons – and to network with IT and data-driven organisations.

Strengthening the IT and data ecosystem

The annual Data Week serves as a focal point for long-term networking, including within existing communities, which in turn can lead to joint projects or partnerships.
