At the core of Urban Digital Twins will be “what if?” scenarios for various aspects of urban development. These scenarios will be supported by a range of simulation models, including: Physical models, agent-based models, system dynamics models, and machine learning/AI models. However, many of these models are currently isolated in silos, making it difficult to link them and enable widespread use.
To asolve this problem, the City Science Lab at HafenCity University Hamburg has developed a prototype for an Urban Model Platform that can serve as the backbone for all distributed models and simulations in a Digital City Twin. This prototype utilizes the open standard of the OGC API Processes, enabling the connection, addressing, and execution of (simulation) models from different authorities, companies, and research institutions via a central platform.
In the webinar, Rico Herzog will present the Urban Model Platform, its purpose, and the technical implementation.
